A High Street the Railway Built and Beeching Took
Wolves Removals is a Checkatrade-listed, fully insured family firm, and Partridge Green is a short run north-east of our Ashington base — close enough that a survey is easy to arrange and our own crew carries out the move.
Our comprehensive range of services includes:
- Full house removals across Partridge Green and the RH13 area, from Victorian cottages near the old station to newer family homes off the High Street.
- Careful packing and unpacking, as much or as little as you want, with extra care for the narrow stairs and low doorways of the older village homes.
- Specialist handling for fragile and valuable pieces — furniture, pictures, clocks and the like — common in the period and edge-of-village homes.
- Part-loads and single-item moves down the outlying rural lanes, with a smaller van to shuttle where a full lorry cannot reach.
- Secure containerised storage, short or long term, for when a chain slips or completion dates do not line up.
- Smaller commercial moves for the High Street shops and Star Road Trading Estate units, worked around opening hours.

About Partridge Green
Partridge Green is a village in the civil parish of West Grinstead, in the Horsham District of West Sussex. It sits at the meeting of the B2135 and B2116, and the parish it belongs to — some 2,584 hectares taking in West Grinstead itself, Littleworth and Dial Post — counts Partridge Green as its largest settlement. Its post town is Horsham and its postcodes fall in the RH13 area. Today it is a working village with a High Street, a primary school and its own shops; for many people, though, the name is tied to the Dark Star Brewery, which moved onto the Star Road Trading Estate in 2010 before its closure was announced in 2022.
For all that it feels settled, Partridge Green is a comparatively young village. Around 1840 it was a hamlet of roughly six buildings; it only grew into a proper settlement after the Horsham-to-Shoreham railway, the Steyning Line, reached it in 1861, and St Michael and All Angels Church was built in 1890 to serve the growing population. The village name comes from the Partrych family recorded here in 1332, while the older hamlet just to the north is Jolesfield — a name still carried today by Jolesfield CofE Primary School. A little under 2,000 people live here now, in a mix of Victorian cottages and terraces around the High Street and near the old station, twentieth-century housing and newer development. About a mile west stands Lock House, a large Vernacular Revival house from around 1900, which the singer Adele rented in 2012.
Local knowledge still counts here, and in Partridge Green it comes down to how the village is laid out and reached. Most traffic meets at the B2135 and B2116 junction — there is no motorway anywhere near, and the nearest fast road, the A24, is about two and a half miles north-west at West Grinstead. The village lost its railway in 1966, and the old trackbed is now the Downs Link, a walking and cycling corridor rather than a road through, so a lorry cannot cut across the village on it. Around the edges, a fair number of homes and outlying properties sit down narrow rural lanes where a full-size removal lorry cannot always reach the door. We settle the access, the vehicle and the route at the survey, so a tight lane or a High Street parking pinch is planned for rather than met on the morning.

Why Partridge Green Chooses Wolves Removals
A Short Run from Ashington
The village is under seven miles north-east of our Ashington base, about fifteen minutes by the A24 and B2135 — one of the shorter runs on our diary, so our own crew arrives fresh and a survey is quick to arrange.
We Know the Lanes and the Junction
Most traffic in the village meets at the B2135 and B2116 junction, and a good few homes sit down narrow lanes off it. We plan the vehicle and route around that access rather than discover it on the morning.
A Real West Sussex Firm
We are a family-run local firm you can look up. Checkatrade-listed and fully insured, with the price and cover set out in writing.
Care for the Older Homes
The Victorian cottages near the old station and the larger period homes on the edges hold pieces worth moving properly. We wrap, pad and crate the fragile and inherited to a proper standard.
What a Partridge Green House Move Costs
There is no flat rate for a Partridge Green move, because two homes on the same street can be very different jobs. What shapes the price is the size of the home, how much of the packing you would like us to do, whether anything — a piano, a good piece of furniture — needs specialist care, and, more than anything here, the access. A cottage on the High Street with kerbside space is straightforward; a house at the end of an unmade lane on the edge of the village may need a smaller van to shuttle to where the lorry can wait. The drive from our Ashington base is short, a little under seven miles, so mileage barely enters into it. We give a fixed written price after a survey rather than a guess over the phone; for a first rough idea, our removals calculator works from the number of bedrooms.

Your Removal Company for Partridge Green
Wolves Removals is a family-run West Sussex firm a short run south-west at Ashington, fully insured with goods-in-transit and public-liability cover, Checkatrade-listed, and with the price fixed in writing before the van is booked — all of it there to check.

Cottages, New-Builds and the Homes Off the Lanes
Partridge Green tends to throw up two kinds of house move. The first is the older village stock — the Victorian cottages and terraces around the High Street and the old station, with their narrow stairs, low doorways and limited kerbside room, where getting a wardrobe or a sofa out is as much about planning as muscle. The second is at the other end: the newer family houses off the High Street, and the larger period and country homes on the edges, which more often hold the pieces worth handling with real care — heavy old furniture, framed pictures, the odd clock or genuinely valuable item. For those we bring experienced handling, so the fragile and the inherited travel as carefully as everything else.

Office & Business Removals in Partridge Green
Partridge Green is mostly residential, so the bulk of our work here is household moves, but the village does have a working side — the shops along the High Street and the light-industrial units on the Star Road Trading Estate. We handle smaller commercial moves too: a shop unit, a village office or a studio, worked around opening hours so the disruption is kept short. It is a smaller part of what we do here than house removals, and we are happy to keep it that way.

Moving to Partridge Green
Partridge Green is a rural West Sussex village that has kept its own life: a primary school, a well-regarded butcher, a fish and chip shop, a vet and its own fire station, with the High Street as the heart of it all. It is secluded and surrounded by countryside, laced with footpaths and bridleways, yet still a real working village. The Downs Link, following the old railway line, gives walkers and cyclists a green route straight out of the village toward Guildford one way and the coast the other.
Getting around is all by road. The B2135 and B2116 carry traffic through the village, and the A24, two and a half miles north-west at West Grinstead, is the fast link — north toward Horsham, south toward Worthing and the coast. There is no railway station any more; the old one closed in 1966, and the nearest stations are Horsham and Christ’s Hospital, each nine to ten miles north, with regular buses running from the village toward Horsham and Brighton. Henfield lies about three miles to the south-east for more shops and services.

Villages Around Partridge Green We Also Cover
Partridge Green sits among the villages of the West Grinstead parish and the country around it, and we cover the lot. West Grinstead adjoins it to the north-west, with Dial Post about four miles round by road to the west and Cowfold about three miles to the north-east. Henfield lies about three miles south-east, Ashurst is just to the south, and Southwater sits to the north on the way to Horsham. Wherever the move runs to or from among them, it is the same insured crew from our Ashington base.

Our Partridge Green Removal & Storage Services
Our Step-by-Step Partridge Green Move
Whether you’re moving locally or internationally, downsizing or expanding, trust a removals team that plans the awkward parts — access, parking, packing — before the van arrives.
Local Moving in Partridge Green
Moves in Partridge Green tend to run two ways: families trading up into the newer developments or the larger edge-of-village homes, and longer-standing residents downsizing out of the cottages near the High Street once the house feels too big. A steady share come and go with Horsham and the coast, drawn by the village school and the rural setting, and plenty stay within the West Grinstead parish, shifting between Partridge Green, West Grinstead and Dial Post. Whichever way it runs, it is a short hop for our Ashington crew.

Preparing for Your Partridge Green Move
The most useful thing you can do ahead of a Partridge Green move is think about access early. If your home is down a narrow lane or has limited room out front, tell us at the survey so we can settle the right vehicle and, if needed, arrange a smaller van to shuttle to where the lorry can wait. If the move is on or near the High Street, an early start usually beats the daytime traffic through the B2135 and B2116 junction.
It also pays to book ahead, especially over the summer and around month-end completion dates when demand is highest. Keep a space clear for the lorry if you are on a busy stretch, run down the freezer and clear the loft in good time, and set aside anything fragile or valuable so we can wrap and pack it properly. Label boxes by room and the unload at the far end goes far more smoothly.

Partridge Green Removals — Your Questions Answered
Yes, and easily — the village is one of the nearer ones to us. It is a little under seven miles north-east of Ashington, about fifteen minutes up the A24 and along the B2135, so a survey is quick to arrange and the move itself is carried out by our own crew and lorry.
In most cases yes, but not always right to the door. A number of properties around the edge of Partridge Green sit down narrow rural lanes where a full-size lorry cannot easily turn or pass. We check the access at the survey and, where needed, use a smaller van to shuttle between the house and where the lorry can wait, so nothing is left to chance on the day.
Certainly. Plenty of the older cottages and larger edge-of-village homes here hold pieces that need careful handling — heavy furniture, framed pictures, the occasional clock or valuable item. We are fully insured and handle the fragile and the inherited with proper wrapping, padding and, where it is warranted, custom crating.
We can do as much or as little as you like. Some households want the whole house packed and unpacked; others just want the china, glass and pictures done and will handle the rest themselves. We bring the boxes and materials, and for the older cottages with narrow stairs a proper pack often makes the carry-out quicker and safer.
It can be tight. The High Street and the roads off the B2135 and B2116 junction are the busiest part of the village, and kerbside space is limited. We look at where the lorry can sit at the survey and plan the loading around it, so we are not blocking the road or hunting for space on moving day.
On a survey, not a guesswork rate. We look at the size of the home, the access, how much packing you want and anything needing specialist care, then put a fixed figure in writing. Because Ashington is only a short run away, mileage adds very little. For a rough idea before a survey, our removals calculator works from the number of bedrooms.
Yes. New-build handovers often come with a fixed completion time and shared access or restricted parking on site, so timing matters. We plan the move around the handover slot and the site access, so you are in and settled without holding up the day.
It happens, and we plan for it. We offer secure containerised storage, short or long term, so your belongings can be held safely if completion dates do not line up. The same crew that packs you up can put things into store and deliver them on once your new home is ready.
Where our schedule allows, we can accommodate short-notice and urgent Partridge Green moves, including our man and van service. Contact us as early as you can and we’ll do our best to fit you in.
Yes. You can buy sturdy boxes, tape, bubble wrap and specialist cartons for your Partridge Green move, or let our team take care of it all with our full packing and fragile packing services. We can also collect used boxes afterwards when one of our vans is next in the area.
We can. Just let us know at the quote stage which items need taking apart and rebuilding for your Partridge Green move — beds, wardrobes and flat-pack units are all part of the service — and our team will handle it safely at both ends so you don’t have to.
